Panama Diamond Exchange Reaches Milestone of One Hundred Members

The Panama Diamond Exchange (PDE) has reached a membership of one hundred since its recent and successful launch in Panama. Currently, 33 companies are established at its headquarters in the Santa María industrial zone. It is the first recognized diamond exchange in all of Latin America.

A Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean

The Panama Diamond Exchange aims to be the principal trading center for the diamond, precious stones, and jewelry sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean. Furthermore, it provides its members with a physical space where they can conduct business among themselves. PDE guarantees a secure environment, essential given the nature of its products, and ensures the necessary conditions for the safekeeping of diamonds and jewelry.

Rigorous Membership Process

To become a member of PDE, individuals must undergo a rigorous process, which includes presenting recommendations and personal guarantees that prove the candidate’s integrity and an impeccable commercial record. The Panama Diamond Exchange is a member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, which allows PDE members to access the other 29 diamond exchanges operating in 22 countries worldwide.

Mission and Special Status

The Panama Diamond Exchange has set out to develop the trade of diamonds and precious stones in the region, as well as to promote the interests and development of the diamond, precious stone, and jewelry industry in Latin America and adjacent regions.
The area of the World Jewelry Hub and Panama Diamond Exchange has been declared by the Government of Panama as a Gems and Jewelry Free Zone. This status benefits the international trade of precious stones and jewelry by exempting transactions conducted within its area from customs duties and taxes.
