Editor’s Note

This article highlights the continued growth of the Grand Besançon Technopole, marked by the expansion of luxury manufacturer MCGP and the construction of a new factory.

MCGP est spécialisé dans la fabrication de petites et grandes séries pour les grandes maisons de la place Vendôme.
Expansion in the Grand Besançon Technopole

MCGP, a manufacturer for the great houses of Place Vendôme, confirms its establishment in the Grand Besançon area, where it already employs 70 people.

New Factory Construction Underway

Construction of the future factory, a 7,000 m² building built by Vinci, began in October on the Témis technopole managed by Grand Besançon. MCGP was already present in the area since the 2012 acquisition of the Losange group, which owned the company Franck & Person, specialized in jewelry parts machining and employing 70 people. This latter company will be relocated to the new premises upon their delivery in summer 2019. In 2010, MCGP had already taken over the Parisian high jewelry workshop Coringer on Place Vendôme. MCGP also employs 70 people near Moulins (Allier), where its headquarters are located.

Specialized in Series Production for Luxury Clients

Specialized in the manufacturing of small and large series of parts for clients “from Place Vendôme,” the group is growing and hiring, says Laurent Parruitte, its CEO, who did not wish to reveal the turnover. With these three sites, the group claims to master all the sector’s know-how: GPAO, foundry, machining, polishing, and setting.

€12.4 Million Investment

The need to expand and the proximity, on Témis, of the Femto-ST institute and microtechnology players to support innovations justify this choice of a sustainable establishment in the former watchmaking capital.

“Innovation can concern materials or machining techniques,” explains the manager. “We want to be able to adapt to demand and release products in increasingly shorter timeframes.”

The total investment amounts to €12.4 million and aims for a Breeam (environmental and social quality) certification for the building. The project is supported by the agglomeration and the region, which view any job creation in the luxury sector favorably, seen here increasingly as the heritage of microtechnology and watchmaking know-how.

150 New Jobs Announced

The company announces the creation of 150 jobs within five years, which should be added to the 70 from Frank & Person.

“The production tool will be up to the challenges of the sector,” says Bruno Favier, director of Témis, whose team is already mobilizing the UIMM, Pôle emploi, and the region to prepare for recruitments.
