【Hong Kong】Hong Kong Trade Development Council to Host ‘2019 Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair’

The 12th Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair returns this November, featuring a significant global contingent of over 1,000 exhibitors. This event underscores Hong Kong’s pivotal role as a premier trading hub for the international wine and spirits industry.

Large-Scale International Participation

The 12th Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will be held from November 7 to 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s fair will feature participation from over 1,000 overseas companies and institutions showcasing the world’s finest wines and spirits.

National and Regional Pavilions

The event will host pavilions from numerous countries and regions. Participating trade associations include the Canadian Food Exporters’ Association, Czech Grape and Wine Producer Association, Business France, Bettane+Desseauve, Wines of Germany, Italian Trade Commission, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal, Setúbal Península Wines (Portugal), ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, and The Southern United States Trade Association.

Following the expanded cooperation between HKTDC and Veronafiere S.p.A., the Vinitaly Pavilion will return this year. This large-scale pavilion will feature premium Italian wines. The ‘World of Olive Oil’ section, which debuted last year, will also return, showcasing a curated selection of premium olive oils.

New and Returning Features

A new ‘Craft Beer Pavilion’ will be introduced this year, featuring selected local craft beer brands from various countries. The popular ‘World of Olive Oil’ exhibition will also return, presenting top-tier olive oil products to visitors.

Industry Exchange and Events

Approximately 70 events will be held during the fair. The annual Wine Industry Conference will gather hundreds of wine experts. This year, Debra Meiburg, Asia’s first Master of Wine, will serve as conference advisor and chairperson, sharing the latest industry trends under the theme:

“Game Changer: Marketing Wine in Millennial Bottles”

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the fair will co-host the Asia Wine Academy. Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee and Master Sommelier Lu Yang will lead an intensive course on the Cabernet variety to deepen participants’ understanding of wine varietals.
