Editor’s Note
Bulgari’s commitment to using only certified, traceable gold from 2025 marks a significant step for the luxury jewelry sector. This move aligns with broader industry efforts, such as the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, to prioritize ethical sourcing and sustainability in the supply chain.

The Italian luxury house will produce all its jewelry using certified and traceable gold starting January 1st next year.
The jewelry world continues its initiatives for more ethical gold. Last October, Kering and Cartier launched the “Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030,” a pact open to the entire industry aimed at ensuring sustainable and ethically sourced production for one of the most used materials in the jewelry sector.
This eco-responsible program developed alongside the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), an organization that aims to create a sustainable supply chain, of which Bulgari has been a member since 2006. It was precisely in parallel with the renewal of its “Chain of Custody” certification issued by the RJC that the brand announced its new CSR strategy.
Starting January 1, 2022, Bulgari plans to use 100% gold from certified and traceable sources in its collections. To achieve this, the brand will rely on both internal and external management systems.
Issues of sustainability, ethics, and more broadly, transparency, continue to gain consideration within luxury houses, as these criteria increasingly factor into consumer purchasing decisions. Among the latest examples, the brand Pomellato has developed a mobile application entirely dedicated to the traceability of its creations.
