The world’s largest and most precious sapphire stone has been found in Sri Lanka. According to information from local authorities, the precious sapphire was discovered by an individual during the excavation of a well behind his house. Experts believe the value of this sapphire stone is approximately $100 million in the international market.

Experts Give It the Name ‘Serendipity Sapphire’

A major gem and jewelry businessman in Sri Lanka stated that this sapphire stone has been named the ‘Serendipity Sapphire’. Its weight is reported to be 510 kg and its quality is 2.5 million carats. The owner of the stone explained that a worker at his site informed him about some precious stones buried underground during excavation. Subsequently, his team succeeded in retrieving this treasure.

Hidden Identity

According to a report published by News18, the identity of the stone’s owner has been kept confidential for security reasons. The sapphire’s owner said they have been in the precious stones business for a long time.
