Introduction

Currently, one of the fastest ways to boost your character’s specs in Diablo Immortal is by farming Legendary Gems. Legendary Gems are exclusive gems that can only be socketed into Legendary-grade equipment, offering significantly higher stats and various special options compared to common-grade gems like Topaz, Ruby, or Sapphire.
Furthermore, unlike common gems where upgrading only increases fixed stats by a set amount, Legendary Gems sometimes unlock unique abilities upon upgrade, meaning their performance increases exponentially with each enhancement.
Particularly attractive is the fact that, compared to equipment enhancement which requires a massive amount of Magic-imbued Dust, Legendary Gems can quickly strengthen your character if you have good luck with the draw.

Main Methods to Acquire Legendary Gems

There are three main methods to acquire Legendary Gems: Ancient Rift Dungeons, Crafting, and the Market. The fundamental method is running Ancient Rift Dungeons, while crafting or acquiring from the Market are considered secondary methods.

1. Acquiring from Ancient Rifts

You don’t acquire Legendary Gems by mindlessly running Ancient Rifts. Before entering the dungeon, you can set Crests. The number of Legendary Gems you receive depends on how many Legendary-grade Crests you set here.
While Rare Crests guarantee at least a Rune, if you don’t place any Crests, you will only acquire equipment and a certain amount of experience.
Legendary Crests can be purchased from the Shop or Crest Merchant for 300 Eternal Orbs each. Since Eternal Orbs are essentially a premium currency (not in-game gold), unlimited farming is impossible.

In the current alpha test version, 500 Eternal Orbs are given daily as a login reward, making it possible to acquire at least one Legendary Gem per day.
However, Eternal Orbs are not only used to purchase Legendary Crests but are also needed for various purposes like Platinum for trading/crafting and upgrading Battle Pass tiers. Therefore, investing all your orbs into Legendary Crests is not recommended.

2. Crafting via the Jeweler

The second method to acquire Legendary Gems, crafting, is also fundamentally based on collecting Runes obtained from running Ancient Rifts and crafting them directly through the Jeweler.
However, the types of Legendary Gems that can be crafted via the Jeweler are limited to 2-star gems. To acquire Legendary Gems of 2 stars or higher, you must use random crafting.
There are two types of random crafting, differing mainly in the type of Runes required and consuming over 4 times more Platinum than regular crafting. Of course, since one Legendary Gem is crafted randomly, you might get a gem you already own, or there’s a chance to draw only the lowest-grade 2-star gems consecutively.
In other words, while you can draw gems ranging from 2 to 5 stars, it’s essentially an expensive gacha system considering the required materials. It’s advisable to craft only when you have spare resources, considering the Rune and Platinum consumption.

3. Purchase Platinum and Acquire via the Market

Lastly, there’s the Market, which can be considered a somewhat easier method. In the Market, you can purchase not only Runes but also various items including common-grade gems, Legendary Gems, and Skill Stones.

However, to trade, you need Platinum, a premium currency purchasable with Eternal Orbs from the Shop, not gold. Popular gems are often priced very high (over 50,000) or are likely out of stock.
From a beginner’s perspective, it’s better to upgrade even a low-grade gem than to have no gem socketed at all. Therefore, it’s good to search for and set gems in the lower price range.

How Efficient is Ancient Rift Farming?

When running Ancient Rifts, you can acquire Legendary Gems guaranteed based on the number of Legendary Crests used, but the probability of getting a 5-star gem is very low.
In the reporter’s case, after spending all saved Eternal Orbs to run Ancient Rifts 15 times, only one 5-star gem was acquired. Statistically, this is about 2.22%, but since the number of runs is limited, the data is insufficient, and the rate could be higher or lower. Based on other users’ feedback so far, it’s roughly estimated to be a 1~3% probability.

Q. Can you get Legendary Gems without placing Crests?
“An experiment was also conducted to see if Legendary Gems drop without setting Legendary Crests. Unfortunately, after running Ancient Rifts a whopping 50 times, no Legendary Gems appeared.”

Of course, it might just be bad luck, but it’s highly likely there’s no reward table for that scenario. It’s difficult to confirm the overall drop rate in the current alpha test version.

Q. Full Party vs Solo Play: Which is more efficient?
“Ancient Rifts also allow party play. You can even place up to 3 Legendary Crests per person, allowing a maximum of 12 Crests in a party.”

The problem is that even if party members place Legendary Crests, the drops you receive are still based on the type of Crests you personally set. There was no instance where 12 Legendary Gems dropped at once.
On the contrary, as the number of party members increases, the dungeon difficulty rises, only taking more time and making it inefficient for farming.
