A labourer in Panna, Madhya Pradesh, has found a 6-carat, 66-cent diamond whose market value is estimated to be over 20 lakh rupees. The diamond was discovered by a person named Shamsher Khan in the Hirapur Taprian mine area of Panna.

“For me, this is like winning a lottery. Whatever money I receive from the sale, I will invest it in a new business and spend it on my family,”

said Shamsher Khan.

The Panna region is known for its diamond mines, where hundreds of labourers lease small mines and attempt to extract diamonds. Diamonds found here are typically not in a condition to be immediately sold in the market; they are later cut and polished.

Current Status

For now, the diamond has been deposited in the relevant office and will be kept there until it is auctioned.
