This article outlines Douyin E-commerce’s recent announcement concerning the rebranding of its Jewelry and Antiques industry certification from BIC to QIC. The change reflects the platform’s ongoing efforts to enhance quality standards and consumer trust.

On July 13, Douyin E-commerce issued an announcement regarding the renaming of the Jewelry and Antiques industry’s BIC to QIC (hereinafter referred to as the “Announcement”).
The Announcement states that to enhance the customer shopping experience and ensure merchant fulfillment quality and product quality, the original Douyin E-commerce BIC was officially renamed to Douyin E-commerce QIC (full name: Douyin E-commerce Quality Integration Center) in July 2022. The original BIC name is no longer in use.
It is understood that QIC will continue to implement strict quality inspection and authentication standards and execution specifications. Its high-quality warehousing, distribution, and logistics fulfillment capabilities will help merchants achieve sustained, high-quality operations and build a good consumer purchasing experience, thereby realizing Douyin E-commerce’s business vision of quality goods at good prices.
Merchants must also note that they need to strictly follow the platform’s operational specifications and inspection submission requirements to send relevant goods to QIC for warehousing, quality inspection, and shipping. Goods that have not undergone QIC quality inspection are prohibited from being advertised as having been QIC-inspected to mislead consumers.
According to the requirements of Section 5.4 of the “[Jewelry and Antiques] Industry Management Specifications,” within the Jewelry and Antiques industry, except for some non-controlled categories, all products in controlled categories must apply for platform QIC entry.
After approval, goods must be sent to the platform’s QIC warehouse and shipped only after passing warehouse quality inspection. For specific category control details, refer to the list of strictly controlled categories. For non-controlled categories (i.e., categories that do not require BIC entry) within the above list, merchants are responsible for self-fulfillment.
It is worth mentioning that in April of this year, Douyin E-commerce revised the “‘Apparel and Bags’ Industry Management Specifications,” adjusting the business category to which “Fashion Accessories” belongs to “Jewelry and Antiques.”
The main adjustments were: the secondary category “Fashion Accessories > Selected Brands” was closed, and all its tertiary categories were merged into other secondary categories under “Fashion Accessories” with the same name; the security deposit standard for “Fashion Accessories > Selected Brands” was adjusted, unified from the original 2,000/4,000 to 20,000 yuan.
Regarding merchant entry requirements, Douyin E-commerce deleted one requirement: “Merchants in the secondary category ‘Fashion Accessories > Selected Brands’ can only release specific products in the targeted investment categories if they meet the following brand requirements. For the brand list, see ‘Selected Brand Category Specific Product Access Brand Details.'”
