Gemfields will host its inaugural ruby auction of 2022 in Bangkok this month, featuring two exceptional Mozambique rough rubies weighing 32.5 and 29 carats. Expected to yield polished gems exceeding 10 carats each, these stones highlight the vibrant quality and significant size of Mozambique’s ruby production.
Gemfields plans to hold the first ruby rough auction of 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand this month. The highlight of the auction will be two remarkable Mozambique ruby roughs weighing 32.5 carats and 29 carats respectively.
It is estimated that these two rubies will weigh over 10 carats each after cutting and polishing.
These two rubies boast impressive sizes, vibrant and bright colors, and excellent clarity.
They were mined in November 2021 and February 2022 from the Mugloto alluvial deposit in the Montepuez mining area of Mozambique. This same area previously yielded the “Eyes of the Dragon,” two ruby roughs with a combined weight of 45 carats.
