Over 200,000 carats of Boyacá emeralds are being exhibited for auction in Bogotá. Colombian rough emeralds will be showcased at the Third Colombian Emerald Auction held between Bogotá and Bangkok.

The FURA Gems auction from November 15 to 18 in Bogotá will exhibit over 200,000 carats of rough emeralds of various qualities.

More than 65 clients from the international emerald market (Colombia, United States, India, Israel, and Thailand) will participate in the auction at the two centers in Bogotá and Bangkok.

“FURA Gems – Coscuez believes in the country’s potential to develop innovative and sustainable mining projects. For this reason, the first round of its third Colombian emerald auction will be held from November 15 to 18 in Bogotá, under a unique global model, featuring emeralds extracted from the Coscuez mines in San Pablo de Borbur, Boyacá. A second round of the auction will continue in Bangkok from December 1 to 6 to attract even greater global participation, aiming to obtain the best possible price for the Colombian rough emeralds,” said Alejandro Amelines, Legal Manager of FURA Gems – Coscuez, in an interview with Caracol Radio.

He added:

“This auction brings to the industry a model that allows for international traceability and oversight of the entire process, ensuring the transparency and legality of the entire sale. Considering that the most prestigious and exclusive luxury jewelry houses demand the highest standards of provenance, FURA Gems hired the leading gemstone laboratory, Gübelin Gem Lab, to provide a Blockchain traceability system through the ‘The Provenance Proof’ portal, a commitment we make to guarantee quality and transparency throughout our chain. This Blockchain-based portal will contain all related information, such as its mine of origin, for all the emerald lots to be auctioned. The Blockchain key will be transmitted to the auction winners.”

The Third Colombian Emerald Auction by FURA Gems – Bogotá and Bangkok

“is a unique opportunity for the country, and it is one of the company’s strategies to position Colombia as the number one reference in the global emerald market and to promote its sustainable and innovative mining model. But it is also crucial to attract foreign investment to Colombia. More than 65 clients from Colombia, India, the United States, Israel, and Thailand will be present at the two rounds of the auction (Bogotá and Bangkok), and furthermore, over 200,000 carats of Colombian rough emeralds of various qualities will be exhibited,” noted Amelines.

FURA Gems is the only company in Colombia that conducts these unique auctions to provide greater transparency to the Emerald Business. FURA Gems organizes two auctions of Colombian emeralds extracted from the iconic Coscuez mine each year.

“This auction is a strong commercial window to attract foreign investment to Colombia and to position the country as an international reference for good practices and sustainable business in the industry, ensuring the legality and stability of the sector. FURA Gems assures that this is a magnificent selection of emeralds that once again demonstrates that Coscuez produces the finest emeralds in the world, with a chemical composition like no other, resulting in the world’s most desired emeralds,” emphasized the Legal Manager of FURA Gems – Coscuez.

In this regard,

Sanjay Kumar, General Director of FURA Gems – Coscuez, concluded that “the entire Coscuez community has been fundamental to the development of all our operations in Colombia, so we hope to continue working in coordination with local, regional, and national authorities for the socioeconomic development of western Boyacá by promoting legal mining, formal employment for the population, and the promotion of local entrepreneurship. Therefore, FURA Gems believes in Colombia and commits to being a pillar for the country’s development over the next 30 years with a successful model that has already transformed the mining industry in other parts of the world.”
