Global jewelry house Tiffany & Co. has announced the acquisition of an emerald weighing over 10 carats. On the 17th, Tiffany stated, “We have directly acquired the emerald, a rare gemstone, from the ‘Muzo Mine,’ located 60 miles northwest of Bogotá, Colombia, which produces the world’s finest emeralds.”
Securing rare gemstones is a traditional method for jewelry brands to enhance their brand value. Fierce acquisition battles erupt as soon as exceptional gemstones appear in the world, and this emerald from the Muzo Mine has ultimately found its home with Tiffany. Tiffany has named this gemstone the ‘Tiffany Muzo Emerald,’ showcasing the brand’s pursuit of the most exceptional raw stones provided by nature.
Emeralds over 10 carats are exceptionally rare. Among various emerald origins, Colombia is the most highly regarded. The newly acquired Tiffany Muzo Emerald is known to be a top-grade emerald mined from the Muzo Mine, the most famous mine in Colombia. Its exact weight is 10.51 carats.
Tiffany stated, “The Tiffany Muzo Emerald is a truly rare and special raw stone with very high transparency, excellent color, and clarity. It has no fissures and contains only inclusions that can be seen under a microscope, which is characteristic of Colombian emeralds found in the Muzo Mine.” The Tiffany Muzo Emerald is scheduled to be unveiled alongside the launch of this year’s high jewelry collection, ‘Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue.’
