Kim Kardashian Wins Bid for Princess Diana’s Pendant

Kim Kardashian, known for her interest in royalty, has won the bid for a diamond and amethyst cross pendant once worn by Princess Diana at a Sotheby’s London auction titled “Royal & Noble.” The winning bid was $197,453 (approximately 25.4 million yen), which Sotheby’s noted was about double the pre-sale estimate.

History of the ‘Attallah Cross’

According to Sotheby’s, the pendant was designed and crafted in the 1920s by Garrard, the British Crown Jeweller. It features a square-cut amethyst and circular-cut diamonds with a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats. It became known as the “Attallah Cross” after it was purchased in the 1980s by Naim Attallah, the former CEO of Garrard (then Asprey & Garrard). A friend of Princess Diana, Attallah frequently loaned the pendant to her. The Princess was the only person to have worn it publicly, and it had not been seen since her passing.
