Editor’s Note
A piece of Hollywood history has found a new home. Marlene Dietrich’s iconic ruby and diamond bracelet, worn to the Oscars and on screen, fetched $4.5 million at Christie’s, underscoring the enduring allure of legendary provenance.

Marlene Dietrich’s bracelet was sold for $4.5 million (approximately 625 million yen). The “Jarretière” bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpels, set with rubies and diamonds, was worn by the legendary Hollywood actress Dietrich at the 1951 Academy Awards and in Alfred Hitchcock’s film ‘Stage Fright’. It was offered at Christie’s in New York and fetched a staggering price.

Christie’s, which has long handled numerous Hollywood star items such as the ruby slippers used by Judy Garland in ‘The Wizard of Oz’, featured this piece in its auction “The Magnificent Jewels of Anne Eisenhower”. The auction also included accessories from Tiffany, Bulgari, and Cartier.
Regarding Dietrich’s bracelet, Christie’s jewelry expert Claiborne Poindexter told The Hollywood Reporter:

The auction, consisting of 31 lots in total, recorded a total of $11.5 million (approximately 1.6 billion yen), with Dietrich’s item standing out as the highest-priced lot. The auction featured the collection of Anne Eisenhower, granddaughter of the 34th U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The bracelet had a pre-sale estimate of $2.5 million to $4.5 million (approximately 348 million to 625 million yen) and was sold on Wednesday the 7th at the high end of the estimate.
