Editor’s Note
A breeding horse named “Shigeru Pink Diamond” has set a new record at a Tokyo auction, selling for 150 million yen. This is the highest price achieved at this particular sale in nearly two decades.

The breeding horse “Shigeru Pink Diamond” (by Lord Kanaloa, out of Pink Cameo) was sold for 150 million yen (including tax) at the “Select Sale of Breeding Horses” held in Oi, Tokyo on the 25th. This marks the highest price recorded at this sale since 2004.

This 2019-born, 2-year-old filly is a half-sister to the G1 winner Sodashi (3rd dam). She is a daughter of the top sire Lord Kanaloa and out of Pink Cameo, who is a daughter of the champion sire King Kamehameha.

The previous highest price at the “Select Sale of Breeding Horses” since 2004 was 95 million yen, set in 2012 by “Meisho Mambo” (by Symboli Kris S, out of Meisho Suzuka). The sale of “Shigeru Pink Diamond” has now surpassed that record.

This record-breaking price highlights the strong demand and high value placed on top-quality breeding stock with exceptional pedigrees in the Japanese bloodstock market.
