This article highlights Dai Nippon Printing’s recent achievement of being registered as a “Fairtrade Workplace Gold” by Fairtrade Label Japan. This new recognition underscores corporate efforts to promote ethical and sustainable practices within the workplace.

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) has been registered as “Fairtrade Workplace Gold” under the “Fairtrade Workplace Registration System” launched on August 1, 2024 (Thursday) by the specified non-profit organization Fairtrade Label Japan (FLJ).
This system registers companies that continuously provide and use internationally Fairtrade certified labeled products in their offices, as FLJ promotes the introduction of Fairtrade into corporate procurement of sustainable raw materials and SDGs initiatives. DNP has been providing Fairtrade certified coffee in office cafes since fiscal year 2006, and the fact that it currently consumes over 100,000 cups annually has been evaluated, leading to the “Gold” registration.
The DNP Group introduced Fairtrade certified coffee for visitors in fiscal year 2006, and by fiscal year 2018, cumulative office consumption had reached 1 million cups. The group has also introduced items such as tea and ice using the same certified sugar, and notebooks using the same certified cotton. In October 2023, it received the “Fairtrade Office Department Excellence Award” at the “1st Fairtrade Japan Awards.”
Currently, through provision in office cafes and sales of drip bags, etc., the company continues to consume over 100,000 cups of Fairtrade certified coffee annually. In fiscal year 2023, efforts were also made to increase employee awareness of Fairtrade certified products, resulting in annual consumption exceeding 140,000 cups.
DNP will continue to contribute to raising awareness outside the office regarding Fairtrade and expanding and popularizing the introduction of various Fairtrade certified products by collaborating with FLJ and various other companies and organizations.
This is a system that registers companies that continuously provide and use Fairtrade certified products in their offices throughout the year, such as in employee cafeterias, beverages for visitors, notebooks, and employee uniforms. Companies whose procurement volume exceeds a specified quantitative baseline and have created a positive impact on producers are awarded “Fairtrade Workplace Gold.”
