According to information, the Shanghai preview of Christie’s Asia Pacific luxury auction features selected lots including a pair of dazzling colored diamond treasures named “The Oriental Sunrise” – 12.20 and 11.96 carat Fancy Vivid Yellow/VVS2-VS1 Type Ib diamond earrings (Estimate: HKD 50,000,000-80,000,000 / USD 6,400,000 – 10,000,000).
It is understood that the diamonds’ vivid yellow color is due to the presence of nitrogen, a rare element found in less than 0.1% of all diamonds, making them exceptionally precious. The weight of the two diamonds is also astonishing, displaying a mesmerizing purple-pink hue and perfectly matched, making them extremely rare. The brilliant yellow tone of the main stones is further accentuated by a halo of white diamonds, creating a striking contrast. Christie’s continues to present top-tier Burmese rubies to collectors, bringing the stunning 62.46-carat Burmese natural ‘pigeon’s blood’ ruby and diamond necklace (Estimate: HKD 40,000,000–60,000,000 / USD 5,200,000–7,700,000). Information indicates that Burmese rubies possess unique compositional elements. With production from the famed Mogok region declining, untreated rubies over five carats are exceedingly rare in the market.
