This article explores the origins of Purelei, a jewelry brand born from a Hawaiian-inspired vision to encapsulate the Aloha spirit in wearable designs.
After a stay in Hawaii in 2016, the founders had the idea for Purelei. Inspired by the island’s way of life, jewelry was chosen as a medium to preserve memories and bring the Aloha spirit home. The connection to Hawaii is intended to be evident in every Purelei design, bringing the feeling of Hawaii home. For this reason, the Purelei Advent Calendar also surprises with 25 days. Why? Quite simply: Hawaiians celebrate on December 25th.
In addition to tropical island vibes, the creators also focus on quality. This is also reflected in the price. Currently, the 2024 Advent Calendar is available for 189.90 euros and is said to contain products worth 905.50 euros. For those who find this too expensive: There is a cheaper version for 109.90 euros. It contains eight gift boxes, allowing for a surprise every three days. Whether the price of the more expensive model is worth it will be clarified later. First, let’s talk about the first impression.
The quality of the Advent Calendar is also noticeable in the jewelry itself. Purelei’s goal is to design jewelry that can be worn permanently in everyday life without tarnishing, fading, or discoloring. Therefore, the creators make most pieces from stainless steel and finish them with an 18-karat alloy.
When opening the little doors, there were truly no disappointments. The calendar is packed full of jewelry pieces, all embodying the modern Purelei style: minimalist, some with subtle details like pearls, glittering stones, etc. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings – everything is included. Above all: variety. There are both subtle pieces perfect for everyday wear, as well as jewelry intended more for special occasions.
The pieces can be combined very well – layering with multiple necklaces? No problem. Earrings that can be worn both at the office and at the next party? The calendar delivers there too. It’s the ideal mix.
Each piece of jewelry was examined in detail. For fashion jewelry, the quality is consistently convincing: the materials appear high-quality, the craftsmanship is clean, and the jewelry feels good – some pieces are even quite heavy. Compared to fashion jewelry from well-known clothing stores, the difference quickly becomes clear. But is the proud price of 189.90 euros worth it?
