“eAsy” is the company name Angela Sudhop came up with for her jewelry sales. Translated into German, it means “easy.”

“The deliberately capitalized ‘A’ stands for my first name,”

explains the creative jewelry designer in her workshop in her own house in Bramstedt. Here, the trained jeweler creates her custom jewelry: necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in a wide variety of styles.

“I make my jewelry according to customer wishes, but for exhibitions, I naturally have to produce and offer more pieces. Customers then want to be able to try things on directly and take them home.”
After 50 Years in the Jewelry Industry, Her Own Design Ideas
“I started my apprenticeship at 15 and have been in the jewelry industry for 50 years. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, and I was sitting at home bored. That was not for me at all,”

Angela Sudhop recalls. She then researched online to gather ideas for custom jewelry design.

“In our jewelry store, I often saw items that inspired me to make something similar.”

She discovered rubber bands and aluminum beads, but was particularly fascinated by the rubber.

“The beautiful, practical, and simple thing about it is that you can make necklaces and bracelets without a clasp. This is especially interesting for customers with motor problems,”

Sudhop has observed.

“Learning By Doing” and Craftsmanship
“I started with a string and a bead, but I wasn’t satisfied with the result at all,”

Sudhop remembers. She continued to experiment. At the beginning, a lot of material went into these test runs. The problem was cutting the rubber.

“It depends on the spacing, which you have to determine precisely so that the beads don’t all sit in a clump.”

By now, she keeps a record of her spacing experiments. This results in custom necklaces that can be worn at different lengths. She designs bracelets so that the beads are nicely distributed.
In addition to her favorite material, rubber, the creative craftswoman also works with steel and aluminum. In her opinion, the combination of black rubber with silver steel elements creates very elegant bracelets. Her necklaces made of steel elements with colored metal inserts look equally elegant. For other models, she also processes steel cables that close with magnets. Her ideas for designing earrings are also very diverse: long studs with stainless steel arcs and hoop earrings that can be varied again and again with interchangeable beads. Sudhop demonstrates how the bead setting is created with a pin and cap.

“Customers have come to appreciate my work by now, they no longer complain about the prices, but come back again and again.”

Angela Sudhop exhibits her jewelry at exhibitions, but also likes to show it at house parties. She will no longer exhibit outdoors in sub-zero temperatures.

“That’s simply not a place for rubber, it becomes brittle then,”

she explains this decision.
