On August 7, the Jewellery World Awards (JWA) officially announced the final winners of the “2024 JWA Sustainability Awards.” Shenzhen Shangshan Intelligent Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jin Yafu Group, won the 2024 JWA Sustainability Award “Manufacturing Innovation Award” for its innovative sustainable development model featuring intelligent gold recycling terminals.
The Jewellery World Awards (JWA), founded in 2012 by Informa Markets Jewellery, the world’s largest B2B jewelry exhibition organizer, is one of the most respected award programs in the jewelry and gemstone industry. It is also the only global award covering every link of the international jewelry and gemstone industry from mine to market, enjoying the reputation of the “Oscars of the Jewelry World.” Its purpose is to recognize innovative talents, outstanding newcomers, and industry leaders.
In 2024, JWA focused on sustainability, honoring jewelry and gemstone companies that have successfully advanced environmental protection, equal opportunity, inclusion, and innovation in their businesses over the past three years. The awards consisted of five categories: Environmental Stewardship Award, Social Empowerment Award, Manufacturing Innovation Award, Community Engagement Award, and Sustainability Leadership Award. Winning and shortlisted companies came from around the world, including Australia, Brazil, mainland China, Hong Kong (China), India, the Philippines, the United States, and Vietnam. After multiple rounds of selection, seven global companies, including VGL & Shop LC Global Inc, Jin Yafu, Chow Tai Fook, and Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), won the five awards.
The judging panel stated that while evidence proving that increased recycling leads to reduced mining is limited, this terminal does reduce the environmental footprint of the gold recycling process. Furthermore, this innovative device holds significant importance in promoting smarter, cleaner recycling and improving efficiency, especially in the Chinese market.
