Editor’s Note
This article highlights the integration of AI into the luxury watch market, with Shuppin’s new system aimed at refining pricing strategies. It reflects a growing trend of applying data-driven tools to sectors traditionally reliant on expert appraisal.

Shuppin (Shinjuku, Tokyo) has developed an AI system called “AI Support MD” to assist in setting sales and purchase prices for luxury mechanical watches. The system has been newly introduced to the watch specialty store “GMT” and the ladies’ brand salon “BRILLER,” both operated by Shuppin’s camera specialty store “Map Camera.”
The system provides a comprehensive overview of various data, including market price trends for different models of luxury mechanical watches and the company’s inventory status, to support price setting for both sales and purchases. It deliberately avoids fully automated price determination. Instead, it allows pricing decisions to be made by referencing AI-predicted price trends. This approach enables the company to quickly capture market movements, secure profits, and avoid losses. The goal is to further promote buying, selling, and improve profit margins.
