RJC Updates Standard Definition for ‘Recycled’

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has announced an update to its Code of Practices (COP) standard, specifically revising the definition of ‘recycled’ materials. This change aims to provide greater clarity and alignment with evolving industry practices and global standards for material sourcing and sustainability claims within the jewellery and watch supply chain.
The updated definition is intended to ensure that claims regarding recycled content are transparent, verifiable, and consistent, thereby enhancing consumer trust and supporting the industry’s move towards a more circular economy. The RJC encourages all certified entities to review the updated guidance and integrate it into their management systems.
