Genk has secured a promising young talent in 15-year-old goalkeeper Elias Gonzalez Fernandez, signing him from Anderlecht on a three-year professional deal. Described by the club’s goalkeeper coach as a “rough diamond,” he is seen as a highly motivated player with a solid foundation, whose raw qualities the club aims to refine.

Genk announced on Monday the signing of the young goalkeeper Elias Gonzalez Fernandez, 15, from Anderlecht. Gonzalez Fernandez has signed a three-year professional contract.

Gonzalez Fernandez is “a rough diamond,” according to Koen Witters, the goalkeeper coach at Genk.

The young goalkeeper will start the season with the U16s. He “will have the necessary time and space to develop calmly,” the club emphasized.
