The Congress party is convening a high-level meeting today to analyze its significant electoral setback in Bihar. This marks the first formal review with state leadership since the results were declared.
The Congress party has called an important meeting today for a detailed review of the crushing defeat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. This meeting will begin at 3 PM at the Congress headquarters, Indira Bhawan. This is the first major meeting of the Congress with the state leadership after the election results.
In this crucial meeting, the state president, state in-charge, former leader of the legislative party (CLP), all MPs, MLAs, and all 61 candidates who contested the elections will participate. In the Bihar elections, Congress managed to win only 6 seats. Given the seriousness of the defeat, all 61 candidates will have to present a detailed report of their respective areas. This report will clarify the reasons for the loss, local influential issues, and organizational weaknesses, which will form the basis for future strategy.
On the other hand, the party has adopted a strict stance on electoral indiscipline. After sending show-cause notices to 43 leaders, the Congress has expelled 7 leaders from the party’s primary membership for six years due to anti-party activities. Those expelled include former office bearers of the Seva Dal, Kisan Congress, and Youth Congress, indicating that the party is now enforcing strict organizational discipline.
The Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) will hold an important meeting on November 29. The Grand Alliance meeting will be held at Tejashwi’s residence, 1 Polo Road. All major faces of the alliance along with Tejashwi will be present in this meeting. The meeting will review the defeat and formulate a strategy regarding the upcoming Legislative Assembly session.
Congress MP Tariq Anwar, commenting on the meeting of Congress leaders held in Delhi today, said that this is an election review meeting, in which the party’s failures and reasons for the defeat will be discussed so that improvements can be made in the future. Regarding the Congress rally scheduled for December 14 against SAR, he said that the Congress and the entire opposition will oppose this process which is about to be implemented in 12 states. Several state governments are also against it.
