During the 2017 assembly elections, Prakash Rana made headlines when a helipad for helicopter landing was seen near his house. Later, the details of assets given in his affidavit during nomination for the election were also widely discussed.

He has Rs 3 lakh in cash, Rs 7,89,63,429 (over 7 crore) deposited in banks and other financial institutions.
