During the 2017 assembly elections, Prakash Rana made headlines when a helipad for helicopter landing was seen near his house. Later, the details of assets given in his affidavit during nomination for the election were also widely discussed.

According to information given to the Election Commission while contesting the 2017 assembly elections, he owns assets worth Rs 20,86,07,293 (over 20 crore). While he has liabilities of Rs 7,64,459 (over 7 lakh rupees).
