A collection of historic jewels, including an “extremely rare” pink diamond and a brooch once owned by Napoleon, will be auctioned in Geneva on November 12.

Historical jewels are set to be sold in Geneva on November 12th. Hundreds of natural stones, including an “extremely rare” pink diamond, are available. One of the centerpieces is a brooch that belonged to Napoleon.
While French investigators are still searching for the jewels stolen from the Louvre Museum, other historical jewels are at the center of desire. In Geneva’s luxury hotels, a major auction is being organized by the house Sotheby’s on November 12th. Nearly 300 natural stones, of different sizes and colors, will seek buyers.
Among the exceptional jewels is a hat brooch created for Napoleon around 1810.
observed Andres White Correal, head of Sotheby’s jewelry department, on LCI on Saturday, November 8th. Adorned with a 13-carat oval diamond, which is surrounded by nearly 100 cut diamonds, the brooch is estimated to be worth between 130,000 and 220,000 euros.
The auction will also highlight prestigious watches, such as the one worn in 1927 by endurance swimmer Mercedes Gleitze, the first British woman to swim across the English Channel. It is also one of the first waterproof wristwatches.
explained Benoît Colson, director of Sotheby’s watch department in Geneva.
But the star of this auction is a bright pink diamond, over 10 carats, with rounded corners, set on a platinum ring. Estimated value? 17 million euros.
emphasized Jessica Wyndham, head of High Jewelry at the British auction house.
