Exhibition Overview

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA) co-organized the 16th “Hong Kong International Medical & Healthcare Fair,” a B2B exhibition focusing on medical and healthcare products and services, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from May 26 to 28.
The fair was held as a flagship event of the “International Healthcare Week (IHW).” The concurrently held 5th “Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH)” gathered over 80 experts and business leaders from around the world, focusing on a wide range of topics including public health, leaps in medical technology, health and aging, and global business and investment cooperation. Startups and Hong Kong universities showcased their work, and matchmaking with investors was also conducted.

Focus Areas and Attendance

According to HKTDC, the “Hong Kong International Medical & Healthcare Fair” adopted the theme “Innovation for a Smarter Health Experience,” focusing on three areas: “MedTech (Note 1),” “GeronTech (Note 2),” and “Green Solutions.” Hospital equipment, rehabilitation, and elderly care products were introduced. Over the three-day event, more than 13,000 buyers from 57 countries and regions participated, exceeding the previous year’s attendance.

JETRO’s Participation

JETRO, continuing from the previous year (see article from May 23, 2024), set up a booth as part of its support program for overseas expansion in the medical and healthcare sector. It promoted Japanese medical and healthcare-related products by utilizing the B2B online catalog site “Japan Street” for overseas buyers and promotional materials from companies in this field listed on Japan Street.

Visitor Interest and Feedback

Visitors to the JETRO booth came from various countries and regions including Hong Kong, Mainland China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Switzerland, and from sectors such as manufacturers, public medical institution personnel, and distributors, showing high interest. Particularly, buyers from Hong Kong, known for their strong health consciousness, showed high interest in Japanese health supplements.
