This article details the sale of original costumes and props, providing one last opportunity to bring a fragment of the beloved show into your own home.

Fans Can Bid on Series Treasures

London – Now it’s truly over! “Downton Abbey,” the historical series with addictive potential, is closing its grand doors forever – but not without spoiling the fans one last time!

The traditional auction house Bonhams is hosting a grand farewell exhibition and auction – featuring original costumes, props, and genuine series treasures!

The Third Film Hits Cinemas in September

It has been 15 years since the aristocratic Crawley family and their staff introduced themselves to TV viewers. With love dramas, scandals, births, deaths, and world history at the beginning of the 20th century, “Downton Abbey” provided great entertainment and emotions.

After six seasons (2010–2015) and two feature films, the third and final film will hit cinemas in September 2025. After that, “Downton Abbey” says goodbye for good!

“Downton Abbey is British television in perfection,” enthuses Charlie Thomas, director of the auction on the website. “Every dress, every piece of furniture tells a story – now fans can take a piece of it home.”

From August 18 to September 16, 2025, Bonhams invites to the grand “Downton Abbey” auction – including a free exhibition at New Bond Street in London. Interested parties can already view the highly sought-after originals online.

Original Costumes and Props to be Auctioned

In addition to a signed script (value around 800 euros) and an original film clapperboard from the movie “A New Era” (value around 1400 euros), fans can look forward to several beautiful props and original costumes.

Whether the original “Downton Abbey” servants’ bell board or Violet’s elegant fan along with desk utensils – the series is a visual fashion masterpiece, spanning from Edwardian glamour to the glittering parties of the 1920s.

The Oscar-, Golden Globe-, and Emmy-awarded series by screenwriter Julian Fellowes (75) is considered one of the most successful TV formats in Britain with over 120 million viewers worldwide. The auction is the emotional farewell from the Downton universe.

A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the British children’s charity “Together for Short Lives.” This is also in line with the thinking of series producer Gareth Neame (58).

“These iconic props are part of our TV history – and we are proud that they are now supporting a good cause.”
