In recent hours, an armed incursion was reported at the operational headquarters of the Esmeraldas Santa Rosa mine, located in the municipality of Maripí, in western Boyacá. The information was confirmed by the company, which reported the entry of unidentified illegal personnel into the facilities where extraction activities are carried out.
According to the official statement, the company activated internal protocols with the aim of preserving the integrity of the workers and their families. These actions are being carried out in coordination with the National Police and the Military Forces, who moved to the area after the events became known.
While control operations are underway, the company reported that it maintains permanent communication with the public forces to address the situation across the various work fronts. The purpose, it stated, is to guarantee the safety of personnel who may be trapped within the operational area and to maintain institutional order at the mine.
In parallel, reports from the site indicate that tension persists in one of the mining pits, where a group of armed men allegedly entered violently. Preliminary information suggests that the objective of the entry was related to the theft of emeralds produced during the last hours of operation.
According to information available so far, approximately 60 workers are believed to be held inside the mining complex. Units of the National Police remain present in the sector, carrying out mediation and verification tasks amid the unfolding events.
The company Esmeraldas Santa Rosa stated that any updates will be disseminated exclusively through its official channels, as information is consolidated and the actions of the authorities in the area progress.
