The Chamber of Deputies has received legislative initiatives from President Claudia Sheinbaum concerning the Customs Law and tariffs.

According to Senate Coordinator Ricardo Monreal, these laws are intended to address irregularities in customs operations and are not a prelude to a trade war. Monreal has also ruled out the creation of new taxes but has not dismissed increases to existing ones.

The proposed measures are part of a broader economic package delivered by the Ministry of Finance, which forecasts economic growth of 1% in 2025 and 2.3% in 2026.
