Editor’s Note
This brief report highlights the responsiveness of local authorities to citizen concerns raised via social media. It serves as a reminder of the role public reporting can play in upholding community standards and traffic regulations.

Following a citizen complaint about vehicles parked on the sidewalk of Virrey de Mendoza Street, officers from the Morelia Police arrived at the scene and applied corresponding sanctions to the motorists who violated the traffic regulations.
The complaint was published on social media, where it was pointed out that “cars are parked occupying the entire sidewalk, and you cannot walk there.” Minutes later, municipal authorities attended to the report.
stated Pablo Alarcón Olmedo, Commissioner of the Morelia Police, who recently provided this information. The commissioner highlighted that operations have been implemented, such as the removal of obstacles on public roads, the “Diamond” operation—which seeks to expedite traffic in areas with high vehicular flow—and the regulation of motorcycle use.
The spaces where regulations are commonly violated include: medians, sidewalks, walkways, roundabouts, pedestrian or cyclist zones, ramps, garages, school entrances, pedestrian crossings, streets with prohibition signage, and corners.
The Morelia Police continue with constant patrols and urge citizens to report such situations via telephone or WhatsApp at 443 113 5000.
