On one side, a long battle with cancer, and on the other, a heart-wrenching tragedy like the death of his son—yet he neither gave up his work nor compromised on his dreams. With his talent, dedication, and passion, he left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and television, serving as an inspiration for every artist. Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was not just an actor or writer; he was a symbol of spirit and determination, remaining connected to the camera and stories until his last breath.
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam was born on December 23, 1959, in Mumbai. He completed his education in Pune. From childhood, he had a passion for acting and creative arts. His experience working in theater honed his acting skills, which later earned him a distinct identity in the world of films and television.

Film Journey Began with ‘Parinda’

Shiv Kumar Subramaniam began his career in 1989 with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film ‘Parinda’. He was the screenplay writer and assistant director for this film. The film was a hit, and he also received a Filmfare Award. After this, he wrote stories for films like ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Chameli’, and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Story. He also made a mark in acting. His characters in films like ‘Kaminey’, ‘Teen Patti’, ‘2 States’, ‘Hichki’, and several other films and TV shows won people’s hearts.

Son’s Death from Brain Tumor

Shiv Kumar Subramaniam’s greatest quality was that he never stopped working even while battling a serious illness like cancer. This shows his hard work, passion, and love for his work. People who worked with him often said that despite his illness, his enthusiasm for work inspired everyone. He proved that a true artist never gives up.
His personal life was also filled with immense sorrow. In 2022, Shiv Kumar suffered his biggest blow when his son passed away from a brain tumor in February. Even after enduring such a great tragedy, he continued to work. However, on April 10, 2022, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam passed away while fighting cancer.
