This partnership between Namibia’s NDTC and India’s Ankit Gems marks a significant step in Namibia’s strategy to develop its domestic diamond processing industry, moving beyond raw material export to capture more value locally.

The Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) and Indian diamond manufacturer Ankit Gems have announced a deepened partnership. This move aligns with Namibia’s strategic goal to expand its downstream diamond processing and manufacturing capacity within the country.

The enhanced collaboration is expected to facilitate greater value addition to Namibian rough diamonds locally. By increasing domestic polishing and manufacturing activities, Namibia aims to capture more of the final value of its diamond resources, create skilled jobs, and foster technology transfer.

The partnership supports the Namibian government’s broader economic vision of moving beyond raw material extraction. Developing a robust downstream diamond industry is seen as a key pillar for sustainable economic development and industrial diversification.
