Editor’s Note
This preview of the Prix Constellation, a key Quinté+ race at Paris-Vincennes, highlights a competitive field of 5-year-old trotters vying for a €60,000 purse.

My dear turf enthusiasts, Jean Turfiste reporting to dissect this Quinté+ awaiting us tomorrow at Paris-Vincennes! The Prix Constellation promises to be an exciting event reserved for 5-year-old trotters over the 2850 meters of the Grande Piste. A handsome purse of €60,000 for this European Class B race, and I can guarantee you the battle will be fierce among our 16 declared starters. The weather forecast is mild with partly cloudy skies, a temperature of 17 degrees, and a light north wind. I visited the stables this morning, spoke with several trainers, and I am ready to deliver my analyses and predictions that smell of PMU and the experience of an old hand like me!
1 – KLINGER
KLINGER is a 5-year-old Norwegian male discovering French competition with a recent record (8a6a1a). His trainer Mathilde Herleiksplass indicates that he “did not disappoint in his first outings in France” and that he “improves with each attempt.” She describes him as a horse that “is not easy to handle” but thinks he is “on the upswing.” She specifies that he “is not incapable of taking a minor place at long odds.” Entrusted to Adrien Collette, an experienced driver, he represents an interesting unknown for bettors seeking a surprise. His recent victory in Norway testifies to his qualities, but the step seems high for this first attempt at this level in France. I see him as an outsider capable of creating a surprise if all goes well.
2 – ZOOM DIAMANT

ZOOM DIAMANT presents an interesting record (1a8a1a5a1a1a) and just won at Gelsenkirchen by dominating Carloforte Font and Hooper des Chasses, two well-known references in France. His trainer Paul Hagoort specifies that “this will be his first attempt on the big track at Vincennes” but considers that “stamina should not be a problem.” He describes him as “a good element” for whom “this race constitutes a real test.” Entrusted to Pierre-Yves Verva, an exceptional driver, he benefits from a major asset. His recent victory in Germany against quality horses argues in his favor. I consider him a serious contender for the top places, especially since Paul Hagoort is known for preparing his horses well for major events.
3 – KEY OF LOVE
KEY OF LOVE is a mare with a contrasting record (4aDaDa1aDa2a). Her trainer-driver Thibault Lamare explains that she “reassured him in her last outing by finishing well.” He specifies that she “just trotted 1’12″4 with her shoes on and will be slightly lighter this time.” According to him, “it’s not a problem of level, but of maneuverability,” and “if she is calm and without traffic problems, she has a place at the finish.” A fast-paced race would benefit her according to her connections. Unshod on all four feet for the occasion, she can improve on her recent outings. Her profile as a finisher could suit her on the long straight at Vincennes. An interesting outsider if circumstances favor her.
4 – EXPRESS D’ARC

EXPRESS D’ARC displays an encouraging record (6a0a1aDa1a1a6a7a8a) and possesses solid references at this level. His trainer Erik Bondo says he is “in form” with “an encouraging last outing at Enghien.” He recalls that he “won well on February 7th in a similar field” and specifies that he “is better when he can be patient.” Entrusted to Damien Bonne, a driver who knows him well, he seems perfectly prepared for this event. His victory on February 7th on this track against our favorites NELSON GREENWOOD and CAVIAR FROM MINE makes him a serious contender. I see him as one of the main chances in the race, capable of playing an important role at the finish if he benefits from a good trip.
5 – KRACOVIA
KRACOVIA returns from a long absence with an unappealing record (8aDa0aDaGa5a2aDa9a). She now has three runs under her belt and should be on the upswing according to observers. Jean-Michel Bazire will be in the sulky, which is a major asset, but her level of fitness remains difficult to assess. She has something to say on pure ability according to specialists and cannot be dismissed without risk. A class mare who could gradually regain her form, she represents an unknown in this event. With the “boss” at the controls, she can create a surprise if she has regained all her abilities. A risky bet that could prove rewarding.
6 – ERNESTO ROC
