The Mayor, Gema Igual, today welcomed the participants of the 21 projects selected for the ‘Espacio Coworking Santander 2025’, a program promoted by the City Council now in its twelfth edition.

High Technological Focus and Female Leadership

Igual highlighted that the current call for the coworking space “presents a very high technological character,” as she detailed that 76% of the projects (16 out of 21) belong to this field.
Similarly, she emphasized the significant role of female-led initiatives, which represent 65% of the selected projects.

“This is a very relevant fact, because it shows that female entrepreneurship is taking on an increasingly prominent role and that women are strongly driving new business models,” she noted.
Program Overview and Diverse Project Areas

The mayor recalled that this program is aimed at entrepreneurs with a business project in an early development stage or with a recently created company, who will be offered training, tutoring, and advice. The goal is to increase the probability of the projects’ success in a short period of time, identifying those with the greatest development potential.
Igual indicated that innovation is the common thread linking all initiatives, but the work areas are diverse, ranging from technology to commerce, including culture, health, and tourism.
According to her details, among the proposals participating in ‘Espacio Coworking Santander 2025’ are projects in technology and artificial intelligence, architecture and digitalization, health and wellness, tourism and immersive experiences, as well as gastronomy and food. Business initiatives for promoting digital marketing platforms and crowdfunding solutions, and projects related to crafts and creativity also participate.

Program Development Structure

The ‘Espacio Coworking Santander 2025’ program runs for 4 months. During this period, a team of mentors accompanies participants in the maturation and development process of their business project, with personalized advice to face the different stages of starting a business, searching for partners, or financing.
Participants will also attend over 50 hours of workshops and group training to enhance the development of entrepreneurship skills and business project management, as well as different events, such as networking days or meetings with relevant actors for entrepreneurs.
Throughout the program, they will have a tutoring process that will accompany them personally in designing their business model, with 22 hours of mentoring support from specialists in areas that the entrepreneur themselves requests.
This project is financed by the FSE+ Program for Education and Training, Employment and Social Economy, with a 60% contribution, and is also part of the collaboration agreement with the EOI of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism to promote pathways for fostering entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship support services.
