Cartier’s latest high jewelry collection, “Un Équilibre,” embodies the maison’s enduring philosophy of harmony. As this piece explores, the pursuit of balance—between line and volume, color and contrast, simplicity and opulence—remains the defining signature of its creations.
Cartier has unveiled its new high jewelry collection, “Un Équilibre,” in Stockholm on May 26th.
Stripped-down lines, powerful volumes, color balance, and the contrast between density and sparsity. At Cartier, harmony is sought in everything. The philosophy of “moderation in all things,” which aims for exquisite balance, is a hallmark of Cartier’s style and creations.
Harmony also arises from exploring and fusing opposing forces such as simplicity and opulence, delicate cameos and vibrant colors, symmetry and asymmetry. This unique vision is an exercise in balance and serves as a guiding principle defining Cartier’s creative approach.
Every design is for the stone—this is Cartier’s vision in high jewelry. The “Cito” necklace was born from two drop-shaped Zambian emeralds. Each of these emeralds, totaling 49.37 carats, was meticulously selected for its balanced volume and material elegance. They are arranged asymmetrically, hanging from both ends of a line of emeralds and diamonds. The two pure curves are gathered in an “X” shape with diamonds, and the back features an adjustable clasp set with diamonds.
The “Pavocelle” necklace features a composition where openwork motifs spread around the center stone, their repetition evoking a peacock spreading and quivering its feathers. The lace-like motifs set with diamonds are light and dynamic, giving the impression of movement before one’s eyes.
The “Panthère Dentelle” necklace combines clear lines with perfect detail. Its body, featuring onyx spots and constructed in a lace-like pattern with diamonds and openwork, creates a sense of volume. It is a piece shaped by the innovative savoir-faire of Cartier’s jewelry artisans.
Reflecting a light, veil-like parure that envelops the skin with a gradient of diamonds and colored sapphires, the “Yala” necklace. Through pink gold craftsmanship, this necklace gives the impression that the stones are set directly on the skin. The spiderweb-like intricacy of the supremely refined necklace reflects the savoir-faire that Cartier’s artisans pride themselves on.
Furthermore, from the same collection, special rings that reflect harmony through the Maison’s creative approach have been unveiled. Rings where moderate volume and color, refinement, and design utilizing space are in harmony express the spirit of “nothing in excess.”
