Hotel Employee Arrested

A 39-year-old woman is alleged to have stolen watches, jewelry, and cash worth 40,000 euros while working as cleaning staff in a city hotel. Further thefts cannot be ruled out at this time; she has been arrested.

Police Investigation

VIENNA/INNERE STADT. The Vienna police informed the public of an investigative success in a press release on Sunday. Investigators were able to locate and arrest a 39-year-old hotel employee in the city center. The woman is alleged to have repeatedly stolen valuables from rooms since the beginning of last August while working as cleaning staff at a hotel.

Stolen Goods Recovered

A total of 12,500 euros in various currencies, high-quality watches, and numerous pieces of jewelry were found in her apartment last Thursday afternoon. At least five cases are assumed, with the total damage amounting to 40,000 euros. Further cases cannot be ruled out at this time, according to a police spokesperson.

Suspect’s Motive
“The suspect partially confessed during her interrogation and stated as her motive that she needed money for a ‘dental treatment’.”

She was taken to a Viennese judicial institution.
