CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, has launched a comprehensive glossary of terms related to responsible practices in the jewelry industry. This initiative aims to standardize terminology across the global supply chain, promoting clarity and ethical standards in areas such as sourcing, environmental impact, and social responsibility.
The glossary is designed to be a practical tool for all industry stakeholders, from miners and manufacturers to retailers and consumers. It covers key concepts including but not limited to traceability, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), conflict-free sourcing, recycled materials, and responsible gemstone treatments.
The release of the glossary follows extensive consultation with industry bodies, NGOs, and experts. CIBJO emphasizes that the document is a living resource and will be updated regularly to reflect evolving best practices and regulatory landscapes.
