This guide details the entry fee and mechanics for the Great Marsh in Pastoria City, along with the encounter rates for specific Pokémon across its six safari zones. Plan your visit and use of Safari Balls or steps accordingly.

Accessing the Great Marsh, located in Pastoria City, has a cost of 500 Pokédollars. In each session, you can use up to 30 Safari Balls or walk 500 steps to capture the following Pokémon that appear in the 6 safari zones:
Psyduck: in grass (8%) and surfing (5%).
Hoothoot: in grass (10%, only at night).
Noctowl: in grass (10%, only at night).
Marill: in grass (15%).
Wooper: in grass (20%).
Quagsire: in grass (10%) and surfing (5%).
Azurill: in grass (1%).
Starly: in grass (10%, only in the morning and day).
Bidoof: in grass (1%).
Bibarel: in grass (20%).
Budew: in grass (10%, only in the morning and day).
Marill: surfing (30%).
Wooper: surfing (60%).
Magikarp: fishing (100%).
Barboach: fishing (30%).
Gyarados: fishing (5%).
Carvanha: fishing (35%).
Whiscash: fishing (60%).
On the upper floor of the initial building in the Great Marsh, there is an observatory. For 100 Pokédollars, you can look through the panoramic binoculars to see which special Pokémon appears each day in each of the 6 zones that the marsh’s safari area is divided into. The appearance of these possible Pokémon is random each day, and each has a 10% chance of appearing.

TM97 (Defog): given to you by a boy to the right of the entrance if you talk to him.
Paralyze Heal: located east of the lower-right zone of the marsh, next to a water pond.
Hyper Potion: hidden southeast of the lower-right zone of the marsh.
Antidote: located south of the lower-left zone of the marsh.
Full Heal: hidden south of the lower-left zone of the marsh.
Honey: located west of the central-left zone of the marsh, near an NPC.
Ultra Ball: hidden east of the central-left zone of the marsh.
Poké Ball: located west of the central-right zone of the marsh.
Super Potion: located west of the central-right zone of the marsh.
Nugget: hidden west of the central-right zone of the marsh.
Toxic Plate: hidden northeast of the upper-right zone of the marsh.
Super Ball: located northwest of the upper-right zone of the marsh.
Potion: located east of the upper-left zone of the marsh.
Super Repel: located northeast of the upper-left zone of the marsh.
Rare Candy: hidden northwest of the upper-left zone of the marsh.
