A collection of rare diamonds valued at $100 million, including the famed 10.03-carat Mediterranean Blue diamond, is currently on display in Abu Dhabi. This exhibition by Sotheby’s showcases some of the world’s most significant gemstones.
The auction house Sotheby’s presented a set of rare diamonds valued at $100 million (8,62,87,70,000 rupees) at an exhibition center in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Among the diamonds on display is the 10.03-carat Mediterranean Blue diamond, considered one of the most significant blue diamonds ever discovered.
The Mediterranean Blue diamond is the main attraction of the exhibition and one of the most notable diamonds on display. Described as having a vivid blue color, this 10-carat stone is expected to be a centerpiece at Sotheby’s upcoming Geneva high jewelry auction in May. According to Quig Bruning, Sotheby’s head of jewelry for North America, Europe, and the Middle East, the exhibition in Abu Dhabi was primarily organized to highlight this extraordinary diamond.
In addition to the Mediterranean Blue, only seven other diamonds were displayed, with a collective weight of over 700 carats. The exclusive nature of the exhibition reflects the rarity of these diamonds, which are not only valuable but also one-of-a-kind pieces in the world of gem collecting. The event is attracting interest from both traders and collectors, particularly in Abu Dhabi, a location known for its passion for luxury and rare collectibles.
Sotheby’s chose Abu Dhabi for this prestigious exhibition due to the high level of interest in rare diamonds in the region. Bruning commented that the city has a strong market for such valuable gems, making it an ideal location to unveil a diamond of this caliber.
