The 72nd edition of the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair opened this Tuesday at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The event is organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) in collaboration with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) and supported by 17 public and private sector associations and organizations.

Event Scale and Expectations

The fair brings together 1,106 companies across 2,628 booths, spread across halls 1 to 8 (G and LG levels), with the participation of both national and international exhibitors. Organizers estimate attendance at over 40,000 visitors, with transactions forecast to exceed 3.5 billion baht (≈100 million euros).

Economic Significance Highlighted

Wuttikrai Leewiraphan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, emphasized the economic importance of the sector:

“Jewelry and gemstones constitute a key driver of the Thai economy. The industry employs more than 800,000 people throughout the value chain. Despite the global economic slowdown, exports of jewelry and gemstones (excluding gold) reached 8.186 billion dollars for the period January-July 2025, representing 4.73% of total exports and a growth of 60.5% compared to the same period in 2024.”
A Global Industry Landmark

The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, held for over four decades, ranks among the world’s four major sector fairs.

“The event constitutes a landmark for buyers and professionals worldwide,”

added Wuttikrai Leewiraphan.

Hub for Colored Gemstones

For her part, Sunanta Kangwanakulkit, Director of the DITP, noted that the fair is not limited to renowned Thai brands but also brings together specialized subcontractors in design and production for international brands.

“With over 50% of exhibitors specializing in colored gemstones, Bangkok Gems remains the world’s largest gemstone trading center,”

she specified.

The fair will run until September 13, 2025, offering a comprehensive showcase of Thai expertise in the jewelry and gemstone field.
