The first mustard of the season has arrived at market, fetching ₹6,011 per quintal. This initial auction sets the benchmark for the new crop.

The new mustard season has begun at the agricultural produce market on Tuesday. This is the first arrival of the season. The mustard was auctioned at a price of ₹6,011 per quintal. The mustard had a moisture content of around 12 percent.
Before the auction of the mustard heap, the market accountants and traders performed a ritual by lighting incense sticks and distributing offerings. The auction of the mustard brought by farmer Mukesh from Pahadi village, under the firm Adinath Traders, was won by Messrs Gulzarilal Balamukund.
Market traders indicated that mustard arrivals are expected to increase after Makar Sankranti, with over a thousand ‘kattes’ (a local unit) of mustard likely to arrive. It is noteworthy that in this Rabi season, even half of the mustard sowing target in the district could not be completed. This mustard has reached the market early due to early sowing. More arrivals are expected in the coming days. Meanwhile, old mustard in the market has sold for a maximum of up to ₹6,800 per quintal.
In the Kota market on Tuesday, the total arrival of all major agricultural products in the Bhamashah Mandi was around 1 lakh ‘kattes’. Wheat prices saw an increase of ₹20, while soybean rose by ₹50. Fenugreek prices also increased by ₹100, whereas gram prices fell by ₹50. Garlic arrivals were also good, with around 3,000 ‘kattes’ reaching the market, priced between ₹4,000 and ₹16,000 per quintal. In the grocery market, edible oil prices remained stable with no significant change.
