Amidst Düsseldorf’s luxury shopping street, a prime location has been a gaping hole. Between Franzen Porcelain and Prange Shoes, two buildings on the Königsallee have been a construction site for years, shielded from the outside world. Number 44, the former home of Galerie Volmer and Konditorei Leysieffer, has been demolished. And Number 46, formerly the flagship store of the perfumery Douglas and the location of Galerie Paffrath, stands largely empty. Recently, however, things are moving again behind the construction fence – because an extraordinary rental, even by Kö standards, is casting its shadow.

Historic Building with New Tenant
