To coincide with Hong Kong Art Week, Phillips Auction will present a series of auctions and exhibitions from March 13 to April 15 at its Asia headquarters located in the West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong.

Marking its 10th anniversary in Asia this year, Phillips will unveil a curated selection of works spanning modern and contemporary art, design, jewelry, and watches, offering a special experience for global collectors and art enthusiasts.

1. Picasso Special Exhibition 《Picasso & The Animal Kingdom》

Dates: March 13 – April 15, Phillips Asia Headquarters

PhillipsX, the platform operated by Phillips’ global private sales team, will host the special exhibition ‘Picasso & The Animal Kingdom’ starting March 13.

This exhibition illuminates Pablo Picasso’s lifelong artistic fascination with the animal world. Through his paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and prints, it explores his artistic journey of using animals not merely as subjects but as symbols, muses, and metaphors.

“Particularly, the 1906 work ‘Jeune Garçon nu à cheval’ is one of the representative pieces from Picasso’s ‘Rose Period,’ capturing a warm and optimistic sensibility distinct from his earlier ‘Blue Period.’ Recent research indicates that a painting from Picasso’s Blue Period lies hidden beneath this work, providing an important clue to tracing his creative process and artistic evolution.”

The exhibition is also linked to the special exhibition ‘The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia—A Conversation’ at M+ Museum, offering an even more meaningful opportunity.

2. New Now: Contemporary Art & Design Auction

Date: March 29, Phillips Auction Asia Headquarters

The ‘New Now: Contemporary Art & Design Auction,’ where works by global masters and emerging artists can be seen together, will be held on March 29.

This auction will feature works by Japan’s Ayako Rokkaku and the UK’s Issy Wood as key highlights.

“Ayako Rokkaku showcases vibrant colors and free-spirited energy through her unique technique of painting directly with her hands.”

“Issy Wood – ‘Professional Help on Rye’ – expresses mundane elements in a sophisticated yet bizarre manner, demonstrating a unique painting style that explores human psychology and desire.”

This auction provides an important opportunity for collectors seeking works by emerging artists to acquire original pieces.

3. Edition Live Auction – Prints & Edition Art by Masters

Date: March 28, Phillips Auction Asia Headquarters

The Edition Live Auction, featuring prints and edition works by global masters such as Salvador Dalí, Damien Hirst, KAWS, Banksy, and Yoshitomo Nara, will be held on March 28.

Key Lots:
• Damien Hirst – ‘The Virtues (H9)’ – A work inspired by ‘Bushido,’ the spirit of the Japanese samurai.
• Yoshitomo Nara – ‘Tell Me’ – A work featuring his iconic ‘Nara Girl’ character, which enjoys immense popularity worldwide.
• Salvador Dalí – ‘Profile of Time’ – A work incorporating the ‘melting clock’ motif inspired by his 1931 masterpiece ‘The Persistence of Memory.’

“With the recent surge in demand for edition works among Asian collectors, this auction is expected to be a significant platform offering opportunities to acquire limited-edition works by renowned artists.”
