The formation of 24 Parliamentary Standing Committees has been completed. Several leaders, including Shashi Tharoor, Digvijay Singh, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, and Tejasvi Surya, have been given key responsibilities. The Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees has been increased by three percent. The Cabinet has approved the 3% DA hike, raising the DA for central employees from 55% to 58%. In the Bareilly violence, a total of 81 people have been arrested so far. Entry of political leaders into Bareilly has been banned, as informed by the Bareilly SSP.

AIMPLB Postpones ‘Bharat Bandh’

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has postponed the ‘Bharat Bandh’ (nationwide shutdown) due to festivals. The AIMPLB had earlier announced the bandh for October 3. The board has also come out in support of Tauqeer Raza, demanding his release.

Defence Minister’s Address in Bhuj

At the Indian Army’s Vijayadashami celebration in the Bhuj military camp, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated:

Congress President Kharge Fitted with Pacemaker

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was fitted with a pacemaker on Wednesday, as informed by his son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge. Kharge was admitted to M S Ramaiah Hospital on Tuesday. Priyank said his father’s condition is stable and he is feeling better.

Mumbai Establishments Allowed 24-Hour Operations

Shops, hotels, and other establishments in Mumbai can now remain open 24 hours. With the exception of liquor shops, bar permit rooms, hookah parlors, and country bars, all other establishments, eateries, and shops will now remain open round-the-clock, as per an order issued by the state government’s industries department.

Agriculture Minister on Farmers’ Welfare

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said:

“Before Dussehra and Diwali, the Prime Minister has given two major gifts to the country’s farmers. In India, agriculture is the backbone of the economy and the farmer is its soul. To increase the income of these farmers, the Modi government’s decision is to increase production, reduce costs, and ensure the right price for the produce.”
