This article discusses a strategic investment by LVMH in the Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret, a key supplier to its watch brands. The move highlights the ongoing vertical integration within the luxury watch industry.

La Joux-Perret, a Swiss movement manufacturer under the Citizen group, has announced it has accepted an investment from the LVMH Group. The company supplies solar quartz movements to LVMH’s TAG Heuer and Tiffany brands, and this investment aims to further strengthen their relationship.
La Joux-Perret, a movement manufacturer based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, supplies a wide range of movements—from quartz to mechanical, and from entry-level to high-end—to numerous prestigious brands.

La Joux-Perret, which became part of the Citizen group in 2012, supplies movements to various brands. Its lineup is extensive, ranging from the versatile, thin automatic movement Cal.G100 to the high-end manual-winding monopusher chronograph movement Cal.5000.
The new automatic movement Cal.0200, introduced for The Citizen in 2021, incorporated La Joux-Perret’s finishing techniques, drawing significant attention not only for its classic gear train but also for its excellent aesthetics.

Now, La Joux-Perret has announced it has accepted investment from the LVMH Group. LVMH is a giant conglomerate formed in 1987 by the merger of Moët Hennessy and Louis Vuitton. It established its Watches & Jewelry division in 1999 and now owns a host of prestigious luxury watch brands including Bulgari, Chaumet, Daniel Roth, Gerald Genta, Hublot, Répé, TAG Heuer, Tiffany, and Zenith.
The background to this investment includes the fact that since 2022, La Joux-Perret has begun supplying high-precision solar quartz movements to TAG Heuer and Tiffany. The strategic partnership was reached to further strengthen ties, including potential collaboration with other LVMH brands.
La Joux-Perret handles not only mechanical but also solar-powered movements.
In the modern luxury watch industry, it is not uncommon for brands to disclose which company manufactures the movements they use. Furthermore, watch enthusiasts often take an interest in the movements themselves and consider them a criterion for purchase. As the LVMH Group increases its adoption of La Joux-Perret movements, the manufacturer’s presence in the market is likely to grow.
