Editor’s Note
This article reports on the remarkable auction of a piece of Formula 1 history—a race-worn Michael Schumacher suit—which fetched a price reflecting its immense value to motorsport collectors.

At a Bonhams Cars auction, an old racing suit worn by Michael Schumacher from the 2000 season was sold – for a crazy price.
London – This piece of Formula 1 memorabilia brought in more money than many used compact cars: A Ferrari racing suit, worn by Michael Schumacher during the 2000 Hungarian Grand Prix, was hammered down for a proud 95,650 euros in an online auction by Bonhams Cars!
The special feature: The Ferrari overall is not only in the typical team red with the Marlboro logo and Schumi’s signature, but was actually worn during the Formula 1 race. At the Hungarian GP, Schumacher started from pole position but had to concede defeat to the defending champion Mika Häkkinen and finished second.
The racing overall was part of the Schumacher Lounge Online Auction, which ran from August 29 to September 19. The auction once again demonstrates the desirability of Schumi memorabilia: A 1995 Benetton suit fetched 61,360 euros, and a signed 2003 Ferrari replica helmet still achieved 11,520 euros.
A portion of the proceeds benefits the Keep Fighting Foundation, founded by the Schumacher family.
