This report details a police operation in Madrid targeting a luxury jewelry store accused of selling counterfeit goods at genuine market prices. The investigation is ongoing.

The Municipal Police of Madrid uncovered the operation of a luxury jewelry store this Tuesday that was allegedly selling counterfeit items at the market price of the originals. The establishment, named Chapulín Joyería, is located at number 49 Mariano Vela Street in the Usera district. The owner and the manager of the store face a possible crime against industrial property.
The inspection was carried out by the Usera District Comprehensive Police Station with the support of a commercial expert. This process began when agents from this body detected signs that non-original items were being displayed in the business’s window, such as pieces from high-end brands without any packaging, tags, or certificates of authenticity.
The worker responsible for the business voluntarily agreed to open the safe and show the agents all the items present there. Among the seized pieces were rings, watches, necklaces, and earrings from brands such as Versace, Rolex, Cartier, or Chanel, some of them valued at up to 1,400 euros.

According to the police report, most of these products lacked any type of authentication method, and the manager of the place stated that:
with no price distinction between brands and without requiring any identifier of origin. The commercial expert stated that there were “rational indications of falsity” in all the objects analyzed.
All of them have been sealed and made available to the Usera Police Station for a more in-depth analysis. Furthermore, it is worth noting that, as the newspaper El Mundo has been able to confirm, this establishment also sold products through a website where they claimed these were “100% original”.
Both the owner and the manager of the business, aged 33 and 54 respectively, are individuals born in the Dominican Republic but hold Spanish nationality. Both face a crime against industrial property, which includes the manufacture, storage, or sale of counterfeit products without the authorization of the brand owners, for profit and causing harm to third parties.
