Editor’s Note
This week marks a significant period for the global art market, with major auctions across Italy and other international capitals offering a diverse array of high-value collectibles. For investors and connoisseurs, these events present key opportunities to acquire rare pieces.

From December 4th to 10th, Milan, Rome, Turin, and major international capitals are hosting luxury auctions featuring ancient and modern art, design, watches, jewellery, and collectibles, offering exclusive opportunities for investors and enthusiasts.
In Milan, Viscontea Casa d’Aste presents MILANO DECOR – Antiques, Fine Art, Carpets & Design (No. 105), an auction including Oriental art, antique furniture and furnishings, 19th-century and later paintings, sculptures and drawings, modern art, carpets, as well as lots of 20th-century decorative art and design. Also in Milan, Wannenes plays the exclusive luxury card with its auction dedicated to Rare Watches, an event promising to attract investors and haute horology enthusiasts to the Lombard capital. Meanwhile, in Turin, Sant’Agostino also focuses on timepieces with its Watches sale, confirming the Piedmontese capital as one of the liveliest hubs for this market segment. Still in the shadow of the Mole, Aste Bolaffi kicks off its two days dedicated to economic history with the important sale of Coins and Banknotes, which will continue on Friday, December 5th, offering numismatic rarities of great significance.
December 4th will also be marked by Rome, where Bertolami Fine Art will organise an eclectic auction dedicated to 19th and 20th Century Art, ranging from 19th-century masters to contemporary research. For those who prefer modern art, the appointment is in Milan with Finarte, which presents the second session of its Modern and Contemporary Art sale, a catalogue that also includes the Tout de Suite selection for fast and dynamic bidding. The web also plays its part in this intense Thursday: indeed, the scheduled auctions of Pandolfini, which brings down the virtual hammer on selections of Modern Art and Distilled Collectibles, and of Farsetti, which concludes its online Jewellery sale, are wrapping up.
The week resumes on Tuesday, December 9th with Finarte, returning to Milan with a double appointment dedicated to glamour: Fashion Vintage and Luxury Fashion, ideal for those seeking iconic fashion pieces. The Italian review concludes on Wednesday, December 10th with two highly refined sales: Pandolfini auctions a selection of Ceramics and Majolica in Florence, while in Rome, Colasanti offers the best of 20th Century Design and Decorative Arts, intercepting the increasingly widespread taste for design furniture. Bolaffi Auctions instead offers Mopeds, Scooters, and Motorcycles. Finally, the online auction by Wannenes dedicated to Old Master Paintings also concludes on December 10th.
Across the border, the international panorama is no less impressive. Again, the date to mark in red is Thursday, December 4th: in London, Christie’s celebrates tradition with Aux Reignots des caves de Bouchard Père & Fils, while Bonhams responds with a refined selection of Antiquities. On the same day, Paris lights up with post-war art thanks to Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr which presents Post-War & Contemporary. In Vienna, Dorotheum offers its classic Advent Sale and a sale dedicated to 19th-century painting. Last weekend, the eyes of the world turned to New York, where Phillips held its highly anticipated The New York Watch Auction: XIII on December 6th and 7th, a true summit for watch collectors.
At the beginning of the week, the Big Apple is again in the spotlight: on Monday, December 8th, Phillips and Bonhams will face off in their respective New York Jewels and New York Jewellery sales, while in Paris, Tajan will dedicate the afternoon to Asian Arts. On December 8th, Maison Piguet concludes the online sale dedicated to the Numismatic Collection of the House of Savoy, alongside the sale of Silverware – Art Objects and Russian Icons – Table Arts – Glassware – Porcelain – Art Nouveau – Art Deco. On Tuesday, December 9th, the House of Tajan continued its luxury marathon with two consecutive sales of High Jewellery and Collector’s Watches, while in London, Bonhams explored new markets.
