IIJS Premiere 2025 Inaugurated in Mumbai

The India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) has inaugurated its most ambitious edition to date at the JIO World Convention Centre in Mumbai, under the theme “Brilliant Bharat”. With over 2,100 exhibitors and a total area of 135,000 m², the event solidifies its position as the second largest B2B trade fair in the world for the jewellery sector and aims to generate over ₹70,000 crore in business in the next quarter.

The official opening of the new edition of IIJS was presided over by the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Shri Rahul Narwekar, who highlighted the historical role of enclaves like Zaveri Bazaar in the development of the Indian jewellery industry.

“The whole world has its eyes on India. Our youth and cultural heritage make this a very attractive market,” he noted.
International Expansion and Key Agreements

The fair, organized by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC), comes at a time of great dynamism for the sector, driven by recent free trade agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and the United Kingdom. According to Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC, these agreements “have opened unprecedented doors” and will allow bilateral trade with the UK to double, reaching $7 billion in three years.

“It is a defining moment for Indian jewellers: to think globally and act boldly,” Bhansali emphasized.

IIJS Premiere 2025 was held at two venues: from July 30 to August 3 at the JIO World Convention Centre (BKC), and from July 31 to August 4 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO Goregaon). Among the most notable new features of this edition was The Select Club, an exclusive high jewellery section that brought together 118 exhibitor firms of exceptional design and craftsmanship.

Industry leaders such as Ajoy Chawla, CEO of the Jewellery Division of Titan Company, participated in the event. He urged the sector to leverage India’s rich cultural legacy and bet on excellence in design, sustainability, and regulation.

“We need a regulatory framework that guarantees world-class quality and an unprecedented customer experience,” Chawla stated.

For his part, the Vice Chairman of GJEPC, Shaunak Parikh, highlighted the strategic function of IIJS as an international networking platform, with the presence of more than 15 foreign delegations. The IJEX initiative in Dubai was also promoted, which has already allowed Indian brands to establish themselves in the Gulf market.

He also noted that this edition of IIJS will generate over ₹70,000 crore in business in the next quarter.

Ajoy Chawla, CEO of the Jewellery Division of Titan Company Ltd., added:

“India is positioned to reclaim its place in the global market. We must leverage our 5,000-year cultural legacy, adopt sustainable practices, and create a regulatory framework that offers world-class quality.”
