This article details the arrest of an extortionist in Puebla and alleges that individuals within the Municipal Police were complicit. The investigation is ongoing.
Gema N., the extortionist from the Morelos Market recently detained in Puebla, had members of the Municipal Police on her payroll. This occurred during the tenure of Consuelo Cruz Galindo at the helm of the municipal agency in the three-year term of Eduardo Rivera Pérez.
On Wednesday, October 22, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) reported that, in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Puebla (SSC), they detained Gema N.
It is worth mentioning that the woman is the partner of Román N., who was also apprehended months ago. Both are small-scale drug dealers and extortionists who primarily operate in the area of the Morelos Market.
Gema N.’s apprehension occurred after she was reported via the 089 emergency line in the Diez de Mayo neighborhood of the municipality of Puebla.
From the 34-year-old woman, over 16,000 pesos in cash and various packages containing possible methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana were found.
According to information from Intelligence areas, as well as part of the investigations and proceedings, the Morelos Market extortionist, Gema N., paid members of the Puebla Municipal Police for protection.
As PÁGINA NEGRA reported on June 18, 2024, State Public Security elements surprised a group of Puebla municipal police officers in a drunken state with small-scale drug dealers at the Morelos Market.
Images delivered to this news portal exhibited the participants in the meeting that took place on Saturday, June 15. In them, several uniformed officers can be seen being surprised by their colleagues.
The municipal officers were collecting protection money at the Morelos Market for Gema and Román. Among the uniformed officers exhibited at that time were:

At that time, the General Coordination of Police Operations of the SSC protected them. Its head was Miguel Martín Hernández Martínez, a command identified with the code “Jupiter.”
Elements of the Special Groups of the Secretariat of Citizen Security reported on the situation of their colleagues.
However, the administration of Consuelo Cruz at the SSC of Puebla Capital did not carry out any type of penalty against the elements.
